Milestone Anniversary

by | Jun 27, 2015 | Life

I love home décor items. I have probably donated more to our annual church garage sale than I would like to admit.  The items that don’t get donated are the items that have a story attached to them. I guess that makes me sentimental.

This home décor item will never make it to that church donation pile.

And here’s the story why.

One of my favorite blogs to read is, Thistlewood Farms.  I get Karianne.  The author of the blog.  She is funny, sweet and uber talented.  And just when you think you know everything about a blogger, BAM, she shares a post about her talented sister Whitney.  What?  She has a family member with skills too?  (Come to find out, she comes from an amazingly talented family.)

Here is the blog post highlighting Whitney.

Karianne explained that it would be so easy to make this paper folded book piece of décor. I read every step.  One of the steps is to be patient.  I knew right then and there that this just wasn’t going to happen.

The beauty of Thistlewood Farms is that she never leaves you without feeling anything less than a Rockstar.

After all of her perfectly spelled out directions, she had one last thought.  It was referencing that her sister had a shop on Etsy named OldNewMiddle.  She sells these paper folded books.  AND she takes custom orders!  Rockstar saved.

I contacted Whitney on her Etsy store.

In August we will be celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary.  I’ll tell you that love story someday.  Anyway, I wanted something to commemorate this milestone.  The standard plate with the silver Happy 25th Anniversary writing, just wasn’t going to cut it.

On the inside of our wedding rings we had engraved W2W.  My husband’s name is Wade.  So his ring stands for Wendy to Wade and mine stands for Wade to Wendy.  Pretty creative, right?

So I asked Whitney to recreate this engraving with a book of precisely folded pages.  I have never been so excited to get an order.  I even got to pick the color of the book I wanted, which was black of course. Whitney sent me a picture of the finished product for my review and approval.  It was better than I had expected.  She hit the nail on the head.

I literally screamed with joy when I saw her return address on the box the day it arrived.  I ripped it open and as I lifted the book from the box, the clouds parted, the sun began to shine and I heard angels sing.

My w2w book was over the moon amazing.

Please check out Whitney’s shop.

And let me know if you can hear angels singing.  🙂
