Home Tour 2015 The Livingroom

by | Sep 21, 2015 | Home Tour | 3 comments

These 11 windows face toward the lake bringing in so much wonderful seasonal color. These are the windows from outside that I shared on The Home Tour last week.

Walking into our house thru the front door, here are those same glorious windows.

So much light all year around.

Now let’s look at some room details.

I love to change and update my dĂ©cor often 😉 and this paint color is very forgiving which leaves a lot of decorating palate options. The wall paint color is from Sherwin Williams and is called Hopsack. During different times of the day, the color can look tan or gray or even have a rusty brown tint to it.

I also gravitate towards big and chunky furniture. Before I bought this set of light colored nail head love seats, I had brown leather sofas and chairs. I kept one of the leather recliners to fill the smaller space in front of the windows and sold the rest of the set.

Remember how we love to go to Estate Sales? The trunk in the pictures above is from the estate of Charles Schulz. I was hoping that when I opened it there would be original drawings of Snoopy and Charlie Brown, but no such luck. 🙂 The wooden top, rattan sides and metal band details were in such excellent condition, that Snoopy or no Snoopy, this piece was coming home with me. 🙂

Since the living room and dining area and kitchen are all one big room, I used this piece to transition from the living room into the dining area. I love this piece and it holds a great story.

My Dad is a retired elementary principal. Several years ago his school was auctioning off obsolete pieces that were used in the library. I wish I had a before picture of this library card catalog. It had 3 or 4 layers of thick yellow latex paint all over it, even the hardware. My parents had someone from their town refinish this piece for me. Under all of that paint was a handsome maple wood. Since it sits in between the living room and dining area, I use it to store my collection of cloth napkins.

I will wrap up this tour with some shots of the various items that I have used to decorate this space in our home.

Enjoy! See you on Wednesday to take a look at the kitchen/dining room area.
