Give A Man A Fish

by | Jan 20, 2016 | Get To Know Me | 1 comment

Many times when my Mom and I go shopping at home dĂ©cor stores like Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn or Kirklands, we catch ourselves saying “I can make that!”

And you know what? Many times we do. 🙂

I obviously got my creative gene from my Mom. Not to say that my Dad isn’t creative, but when my Mom and I spend hours upon hours in her sewing room and my Dad goes golfing, let’s just say that he enjoys other things more than he enjoys the hum of a sewing machine.

Besides sewing, let me share with you a couple of other things I love.

I love math.  I love balancing my checkbook. I love taking an idea in my head, putting it on paper and making all of the calculations to make it happen. I love organizing. I love throwing things away etc.

Now let’s go to my “I do not like” list.

I do not like cleaning. I do not like ironing. I do not like technical things.

Technology. It’s a painful word to even type. People who can zip thru creating an excel spreadsheet or other stuff like that…. (I don’t even know the lingo to make a list of technology things) …..those people amaze me. (i.e. Spencer)

Besides the photos that Spencer takes for me,  I have had to hire him to also do the technological end of my business.

But I have recently taken some baby steps to DIY  some technology “things”.

Because I am a visual learner, I am going to visually show you what I have done. Be prepared to be amazed. 🙂

Etsy has offered a video spot that can be attached to your store.

I contacted Spencer to ask if I could attach the video we had made last August. He quickly responded and sent me a link for the video. A link, ugh. How the heck do I get that linked to my shop? I knew Spencer was not going to help me. My definition of help me is  “do it for me”. His definition of help:

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

What would’ve taken him 30 seconds to upload, took me hours. I am not exaggerating about that. 🙂

Bottom line is that I did it. All by my little ol’ self.

Here are the results for you to enjoy. I will teach you how to find it. 🙂

Go to OldLakeGeorge.com and click on Menu

Click on Shop

This will pop up next

Slide up through all of the items until you come to this towards the bottom. Click on About This Shop (the words beside my face)

This will pop up.

That’s the video we made and it is now part of my shop!

I don’t know if I am more excited to share this video with you or the fact that I succeeded at something techy!

See you on Friday,

Wendy

Have you noticed that I have been adding these goodies at the end of the blog posts? Yep, another techy thing I was taught. 🙂
