The Blogging Life

The blogging life is an interesting one.

I use to have some form of direction when I started writing a post. But 9 times out of 10 the way the post ended up didn’t resemble the way I intended when I started.

For example this post. Here are my first three attempts at writing the first line.

1)      Sometimes life gives me lemons, sometimes it gives me lemonade.

2)      When I woke up today….

3)      Happy Saturday everyone!

All rejects.

There was nowhere to go with that opening sentence because my heart is heavy.

Trying to stay upbeat and positive all of the time can be exhausting. Now hold on, I am not complaining or whining. Believe me, I am very good at those things but that’s not my point.

My point is, is that last weekend we drove to Chicago to say “Goodbye” to my brother-in-law who is losing a well fought battle with cancer.

I know, I know, this blog isn’t about my personal life. But on this sunny and hot Saturday I want to say this out loud.

We love you Uncle Rian.

I wish we all could’ve grown old together and finally had the time to spend with each other. But God has decided that you get to go to Heaven first and make sure everything is set and ready for us when we arrive.

Always the big brother.

As a wise man once said, “See you in Heaven.”
