April Fools Video

by | Apr 1, 2016 | Life

Target does not have a card section marked April Fools. Maybe Hallmark is missing out on that. Maybe not.

Typically April 1st comes and goes at our house without any pranks happening. It would be funny/shocking to tell my husband, “I got a puppy” or “We won the lottery” or even “I sold the house and we are moving to a tiny house and living off the land!” But he knows me too well that he would even believe me for a second. ; )

When this company contacted me to help them with an April Fools video they wanted to make, I was all in.

Fitsok is a company that engineers performance socks for athletes. Athletes of all abilities.

They wanted to base their video stemming back to the 80’s. They sent me a pair of acid washed denim jeans and asked if I could come up with 3 pairs of socks.

Denim? Denim that doesn’t stretch? Make socks?

Um, okay.

At first I really struggled with this.  I over thought it.

After giving myself a motivational speech, I came to the reality that Fitsok knows denim doesn’t stretch. They are in the sock business Wendy, roll with it!

So besides that denim acid washed jeans they sent, by some miracle I found a pair of maternity leggings in the clearance section of Target that looked like denim. Shocking that something like that would be on clearance, right?

The first set that I made, I tried to copy the look of an actual Fitsok.

Without any stretch to it, it didn’t look anything like a sock. So, I added a band that went around the ankle.

Seriously, it only got worse.

I sent the picture to the company and they loved it! This is the direction they wanted to go. A perfect addition to their April Fools video.

They also asked if I could make a “scrunchy” sock. Remember scrunchies? They are basically colorful fabric covering an elastic band in the center used to hold a pony tail in place.

Here was my take on the idea.

Scrunchy denim fabric attached to white tube socks. Instead of a hair scrunchy, they are an ankle scrunchy. A scrunkle if you will. : )

For the third pair, I hit it out of the park! This was my inspiration.

And this is the result.

Denim on the bottom and sharpie red and blue stripes on the top.

My work is done here. Mic drop.

If you would like to see the socks in action, here is the April Fools Video. Enjoy!
